Auto Body Repair Damage Analysis Richmond VA
What Makes Damage Analysis an Effective Tool?
After you’ve gotten through the mess of an accident, it’s time to get your car repaired. The first two questions that typically come to mind are: (1) how much is this going to cost, and (2) how long will it take? So, you begin searching for Auto Body Repair Damage Analysis Richmond VA – and you found Conner Brothers!
If you are new to the claims process, let me first say you’ve come to the right place. We can give you definite answers on both of these important questions and many more that will come up along the way. As a Gold Class certified auto body repair shop, Conner Brothers Collision Center specializes in Auto Body Repair Damage Analysis Richmond VA.
Before we begin, did you know that initial estimates generally cover only 50-60% of the overall cost for repairs to your vehicle? What we are talking about are estimates that are written by your insurance company. Even most body shops are not providing the most accurate estimates. How do you know for sure the estimate accounts for all the damage sustained and equally important, how about the repair processes as outlined by your vehicle’s manufacturer? For the very best estimate, you want to use a shop that performs what we call “Damage Analysis.”
Conner Brothers has established a team that can answer the age old question of “how much will my repairs cost,” with 100% accuracy. How do we do it? It’s a complicated simple answer. We start off with I-CAR Platinum trained staff who are well versed with where energy goes during an accident. Our technicians disassemble and remove all the damaged parts in the affected area and then begin to remove all the related items necessary to compete the repairs. As an example, if we are to paint your driver’s door we need to blend into the adjacent panels (the front fender and rear door) in order for the paint to match. In order to do the painting of these panels, items such as the rear door handles, belt moldings, and door moldings need to be removed. On the front fender on most cars today, the headlamp and front bumper cover will need to be removed, so paint (in this case clear coat) can be applied behind the parts–which means they need to be removed. We follow all OEM’s guidelines for repairing your vehicle and as a result, we need to remove these items. By doing so, we isolate any potential problems that might arise later, such as a broken part or a painted molding that needs replacing. This defines the Auto Body Repair Damage Analysis Richmond VA.
The next step in the process is for our I-CAR Platinum Estimators to document all the damage. These highly trained individuals carefully photograph and label all the damaged parts in our estimating program. Proper documentation of damaged parts and following all OEM processes enables us to properly repair your car back to a “Crash Worthy” state. Even though most folks want to know how much and when their cars will be repaired, it is our belief they also do not want to compromise the safety of the occupants in the process. At Conner Brothers, our focus is your family’s safety. Repairs done right has been our mantra for years and never has it been more important that today.
Damage Analysis is a process that takes time. Depending on the severity of the damage, the process could take as little as an hour or as much as 8-12 hours. Earlier this year, it took us three days to locate all the parts on a new Sprinter Van. Many of the parts were not in our system and working closely with the local Mercedes dealer we were able to come up with the exact parts needed to complete the repair. We go above and beyond. Once we complete the Damage Analysis, we can safely say with 100% accuracy what the cost of the repairs will be.
But you have a second question, “How long will it take?” This question cannot be determined with any accuracy until all of the parts have been received. We’ve talked about OEM vs Aftermarket parts in a recent blog. (chance to link to it) Parts procurement is the most challenging problem faced by all body shops. We have very limited control over what happens at the dealer. While we have wonderful relationships will all manufacturers, however we cannot with 100% certainty tell you when the parts will arrive. We can get close! The answer to the question “When will my car be done” comes only when all the parts have arrived and the car is placed into production. It is at that point in time, we can now give you the “Promise Date.” This date is our guarantee when your car will be ready. We wish there were a simpler answer but unfortunately there is none. Having operated body shops over the years for dealerships (Toyota, Chevrolet, Subaru, Hummer, Saab and Cadillac), we’ve learned they do not have a handle on the part procurement problem either. It is an industry wide issue.
At Conner Brothers, we work very hard to eliminate all the variables possible during the repair process. All the while ensuring your family’s safety. Repairs done Right is not just a catchy slogan, it’s our passion. We were the first body shop in Virginia or maybe the U.S. to guarantee repairs for life, and we are now the first company to define “Damage Analysis”.
