Accidents are traumatic
Keep calm and follow the suggestions below
- Turn on the emergency flashers and move to the side of the road
- Before getting out of the vehicle, assess the situation. Are you injured? If you think you're injured, stay in the car and try to relax. Ask someone to call for help and let a professional assess your condition. Is it safe to leave the vehicle? Assess your situation and that of the other vehicle. If emergency assistance is needed, call 911 and ask for the police.
- Don't say the accident was your fault, even if you believe it was. Be tactful and courteous.
- Get the names, addresses, phone numbers of any witnesses. ( this will greatly reduce the time the insurance company takes in accepting liability for the repairs)
- Be sure to exchange the following information: names, addresses, drivers license numbers, license plate numbers, phone numbers, police information, & insurance information.
- Report the accident to the police if you have not already done so.
- Call you insurance representative to initiate a claim. Even if the accident is not your fault, insurance companies can sometimes obtain information on the other person that you do not have access to.
- Know where you want to have your vehicle repaired (Conner Brothers right?!) You can have your car towed directly to a Conner Brothers location right from the accident scene. Most all tow companies know which Conner Brothers would be the closest to the accident scene.
